Welcome to the Mount Saint Sepulchre Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order.

Our fraternity meets on the third Sunday of the month unless announced otherwise. There will be no meeting in June or December. The next meeting will be on May 20. On October 15 we have our annual Open House. Meetings are open only to members and those in formation.

Recent News

  • 18-Mar-2018 – Fr. Jim, our Spiritual Assistant, gave fraternity members a "refresher" on the Triduum, which was very informative and lively. Fraternity members then shared with one another answers to questions that those in Initial Formation posed to the group. This was quite successful, so we may do it again in the future.
  • Emy Cabigas d201815-Mar-2018 – Fraternity member Emy Cabigas passed away on Mar 12. Emy professed into the Order in 2005, but has been ill for some time. See her obituary.
  • 9-Mar-2018 – Fraternity member Nita Mullins passed away.
  • 18-Feb-2018 – Adele Lewis, our Formation Director, gave a short presentation on Detachment, the theme for the month.
  • 10-Feb-2018 – A Franciscan Day of Reflection, to be hosted by our Regional Fraternity, St. Margaret of Cortona, will be held in Ellicott City on Sat, Apr 7, 8:30-4:30. It is titled Beholding the Face of Christ in Others. It is open to all Inquirers, Candidates, and newly professed, as well as those in Orientation. All those in Initial Formation should strongly consider attending. Cost is $50, registration is needed Mar 24. See registration flyer for more details and contact information.
  • 8-Feb-2018 – A Lenten Retreat will be held on Saturday, Feb 24, 9am-4pm, at the Monastery. The presenter will by our very own Spiritual Assistant, Fr. Jim Gardner, SA. Its focus will be on A Call to Conversion. Cost is $40, registration is needed by Feb 21. See registration flyer for more details.
  • 21-Jan-2018 – Mary Jo gave a short presentation on the Franciscan Crown Rosary. Larry then opened the floor to suggestions on topics for the fraternity's Ongoing Formation program.
  • Susan Zell profession Nov 201719-Nov-2017 – We rejoice as our sister Susan Zell (center) professes her permenant commitment to the Gospel life in the manner of St. Francis. Congratulations, Susan! We also welcome into their Candidate phase of formation Joseph Gigliotti, Mary Gigliotti, and Bennett Solberg.
  • 7-Nov-2017 – There will be an Advent Retreat at the Monastery on Saturday, December 16; see registration form.
  • 15-Oct-2017 – Bennett gave an excellent presentation on Pope Pius XII, including research done on what Pius did to save many Jews during WW2 and some of the false rumors circulated about him. Larry distributed certificates to some of those who celebrated significant profession anniversaries; congratulations in particular to Margaret, who was professed 70 years ago! Members were asked to keep in their prayers members and their families who are not well. We prayed the Office for the Dead for our deceased sister Julia Stratchko.
  • Julia Stratchko d 201726-Sep-2017 – Member Julia Stratchko passed away (see obituary). Her funeral was on Oct 2 at St. Hugh in Greenbelt, MD. Julia had been professed 40 years. God bless her!
  • 18-Sep-2017 – Patrick Carolan from Franciscan Action Network described the organization's mission, social justice programs, and opportunities for members. Mary Jo gave a short history of the Franciscan Crown rosary and distributed some rosaries to members.
  • 20-Aug-2017 – Mary Jo gave a lovely presentation on Mary and St. Francis, tying it into our Franciscan Rule. Michele relayed to members her experience as a visitor to Assisi.
  • 17-Aug-2017 – The August edition of the St. Margaret of Cortona Regional Fraternity's newsletter, Up To Now, is now available.
  • 18-Jun-2017 – There was no fraternity meeting this month so members could celebrate Fathers Day with their families.
  • Dorothy Clayton d20172-Jun-2017 – Member Dorothy Clayton passed away. Her funeral was held on June 8 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
  • 31-May-2017 – Fr. Bill Winkler, OFM, a friar of the Holy Land, passed away.
  • 22-May-2017 – The May edition of Up To Now is available online.
  • 21-May-2017 – The fraternity welcomed into Inquiry phase Mary Gigliotti and Bennett Solberg. A member gave a presentation on the apparitions at Fatima, the promises, and the two new saints fo the Church.
  • 20-May-2017 – Member Phil Melore passed away after being in a coma for several days.
  • 23-Apr-2017 – The fraternity welcomed into the Inquiry phase Joseph Gigliotti.
