Meeting summary for Feb 2021

Eleven members attended this month’s meeting. We shared news of one another, our concerns and joys. Adele asks for prayers for members of her family. Larry informed members he and his wife may be moving to Florida this summer, at which point he will have to resign as Minister. Brenda is recovering from minor surgery.

Larry read the annual Treasurer report to the members. Members were very generous in 2020, and costs were lower, so we were able to donate more to charities. Thank you, all. (If anyone would like a copy of the Treasurer’s report, contact Larry.)

We then discussed Chapter 1 of Fratelli Tutti, Pope Francis’ most recent encyclical. Each person shared what resonated with them, what they felt this called them to do, how they could be instruments of God’s peace in the world, and how wisdom can be used to build a more fraternal world.

Article 21 of the Rule was discussed next. We shared thoughts about the role of the fraternity council, servant-leadership, the use of one’s talents for the fraternity, and about how we fit into something much bigger: an international order that transcends the centuries, all the way back to St. Francis himself.

After praying Evening Prayer together and reciting the closing prayer, Fr. Jim gave us his blessing. Thank you to all who participated.
