  • 20-Nov-2014 – Dwelling in God’s Love, an Advent Retreat Day, will be held at the Monastery on Saturday, Dec 20, 9am-4pm. It will include Eucharistic Liturgy and Common Prayer, two conferences given by Sr. Ilia Delio, OSF, and time for reflection and private prayer. See flyer for more details.
  • 19-Nov-2014 – On Sunday, January 4, 2015, at 4:00pm at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Baltimore, there will be a Greccio Service led by the Choirs of Archbishop Curley High School. See flyer for more details.
  • 16-Nov-2014 – At our Admission ceremony, three of our Inquirers advanced to the Candidate phase of Initial Formation. We congratulate Michele, Wendy, and Frank, as we encourage and support them along their path, learning about the secular Franciscan way of life. Members who have been professed for multiples of 5 years were given certificates of recognition; we applaud your commitment to the Gospel way of life. Corky Hart, our Minister, spoke with members about various hazards to our faith and how we should be alert to the inauthentic teachings we may encounter. We ask members to pray for our brother, George Ramsey, who recently lost his mother.
  • 19-Oct-2014 – Luis gave a presentation about St. Thérese, and Corky spoke to members about how we are to pray and listen to God.
  • 17-Aug-2014 – Vicky gave an excellent presentation on the discipline of fasting and its spiritual benefits.

    6-Aug-2014 – Fr. Stephen Sabbagh, OFM, a former Spiritual Assistant of the fraternity, passed away. There was a viewing with evening prayer at the Monastery on Friday, August 9, and his funeral was on Saturday, August 9, followed by interment in the Monastery’s cemetery. Fr. Stephen was our Spiritual Assistant until 1997; he had served ably in this role for many, many years. He was also Spiritual Assistant for many other fraternities in our Region until his deteriorating health precluded travel.

    20-Jun-2014 – Fraternity member Rita Braddock passed away on June 8 (see obituary). The viewing will be on Wednesday at 9:30am at St. Anthony’s Church in Washington, DC, with the funeral to follow at 10:00am.

  • 16-Mar-2014 – Minister Corky Hart spoke to members movingly about the meaning of Lent, the meaning of suffering, and ways we can witness to others.
  • 10-Mar-2014 – Council has approved an updated set of Fraternity Guidelines; see menu item Members / Handouts to access it.
  • 6-Mar-2014 – Former member Joan Leckinger passed away (see obituary). The viewing was Friday, Mar 14, at Taylor Funeral Home in Annapolis, and the funeral was at St. Mary’s Church in Annapolis on Saturday, Mar 15. Joan was professed many years ago and was a faithful member. She transferred to St. Conrad Fraternity, but has stayed in touch with members of our fraternity.
  • 16-Feb-2014 – Fraternity members Brenda Nutt and Helene Hogan gave a presentation on the making of icons, their history, and their place in the Church. They also passed around several icons they had each made. Minister Corky Hart spoke to members about the rites, richness, differences, and commonalities of the Eastern Rite Catholic and the Roman (Western) Church.
  • 28-Jan-2014 – The Holy Father has a special 5 finger prayer guide; read it and learn a whole different way to pray. Also read his new encyclical, Lumen fedei, which was started by his predecessor.
  • 19-Jan-2014 – Minister Corky Hart gave a presentation on how certain meditating practices are in conflict with our Catholic faith (see handouts page for links). Four persons started Orientation phase of formation and were introduced to fraternity members. Fr. Kevin informed members about the need for Spiritual Assistants for other OFS fraternities, the fact that professed OFS members may serve in this role, and how one can obtain the necessary training.
